Smack out of the era more then any other home décor product and once remembered as a Moorish plant holder; an art form out of the 70’s puts itself squarely in the here and now, right where it should be...and it’s called Macramé. Reinventing the retro version of the past with a modern fresh twist.

Hello!  My name is Charlene Spiteri and I'm a Melbourne based textile designer.

“Having been surround by Macramé as a child, from Pot plants, wall hangings to even owning a few fashion pieces has given me the desire to re-create a range of stylish home décor Macramé pieces to suite both interior and exterior spaces”. The collection consists of plant hangers, wall hangings and decorative Macramé Art.”It’s my past, my heritage of Macramé and it’s skills that brings me here”. Each piece is handmade to order and designed using a variety of flavorsome colours and materials. Commission piece are also available for both residential and commercial spaces.

My background comes from a family of talented artists and designers. My passion for weaving began at a very early age of 16. From here she pursued her dreams by studied the skill of weaving through Melbourne Institute of Textiles learning all there is know from a master weaver. Her studies continued at RMIT with a bachelor of arts and honours in Textiles design.

Specialising in Macramé has lead me to creating pieces for clients such as Levis in the USA, featured in stylesight a global trend report publication, as well as working with lighting specialist Lights, Lights, Lights developing a exclusive macramé pendant light collection which was featured in ‘The Block 2014’.

There is a returning trend around Macramé and it’s becoming increasingly popular for homes to incorporate indoor plants. Combining the two offers style and health benefits, reducing VOC’s.
